Occupational therapy (OT) helps children develop the skills they need for everyday tasks like getting dressed, brushing teeth, and feeding themselves. These activities, known as “activities of daily living,” are essential for building independence and confidence. When these tasks are hard, OT can break them down into smaller, achievable steps using fun, motivating activities tailored to each child.
Through play-based strategies, therapists support children in improving fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, sensory processing, and body awareness—all of which are needed for self-care. With consistent support, children gain the tools to participate more fully at home and in the community.
